You had better been wearing a hat while walking the beach in the last week or so. Birds have taken over the bay by the hundreds, perhaps thousands. This year the herring left tons of roe behind, the gourmet dinner for all sorts of animals, including seagulls.
They are a chatty bunch. Their squawking echoes around the bay, so even if you are not walking on the beach, you know they are there.
So when you watch that fluttery display of nature, wear that hat. You know why as you notice the spotty white wash as the result of bird bombs on the road.
